“New York…a gorgeous mosaic…”
David Dinkins, former mayor of NYC

I first came to New York City when I was 16 years old.  It was love at first sight.  Two years later, fresh out of High School, I returned to the city on a Greyhound Bus and made it my home.  For almost three decades, I’ve been exploring this metropolis, which continues to enrich, frustrate, and fascinate me.

I’ve lived a lot of lives in NYC, with changing casts of characters.  I’ve experienced some of my dreams, and a few nightmares.  Like the city I love, the highs and lows have transformed me.  But one thing has remained constant: my fascination with this rich and complex place.

I’m also an avid traveler, which involves a lot of research.  When planning a trip, I want to get a sense of how a place looks; what it feels like to be there.  What is there to see and do?  How much time should I budget?  Speaking of budgets, how expensive are accommodations?  How can I (a non-driver) get around?  What are the cultural offerings?  What are the “must-try” food specialties?

Here I provide all that information and more for those planning to visit New York City.  For fellow New Yorkers, I offer in-depth information about sights, history, deals, and activities so they can to continue exploring our home.

If there is some NYC information you cannot find on this site, please contact me.  I’ll do my best to get that information to you and be of assistance whenever possible.

Thanks for reading.  I hope this site helps you to appreciate and enjoy NYC: the “gorgeous mosaic.”
